Pond Excavation in Adrian, MO

Adrian is on I-49 in northern Bates County, about 60 miles south of our Shawnee shop, in farm country where most ponds are built to water livestock and catch runoff from fields.

A dependable pond comes down to three things: enough land draining into it, soil that seals, and a dam and spillway built to last. We check the first two before we dig, then clear the site, strip topsoil, dig and shape the basin, build the dam in compacted layers and set an overflow that carries storm water safely around it. For cattle, we can plan a gentle entry or a fenced pond with a tank below the dam.
