Pond Excavation in Baldwin City, KS

Baldwin City is about 35 miles southwest of our Shawnee shop in southern Douglas County, surrounded by rolling pasture and farm ground where ponds have long been part of the landscape. The process starts with a site walk. We look for a spot where a dam can collect water from enough land to keep the pond full, check that the soil has the clay content to hold water, and talk about what you want the pond to do. Then we clear the site, dig and shape the basin, build and compact the dam, and set an overflow sized for heavy storms.
